WELCOME ABOARD! New staff in the Library
The library recently hired John Furfey to fill the role of Electronic Resources Librarian. He is working at the Academy on a part-time basis, and will be on campus mainly in the evenings and on weekends. A native of Falmouth, John earned his Master's in Library and Information Science at Simmons College in 2003, and is also employed as a Systems Librarian at the MBLWHOI Library in Woods Hole.

The Academy's library is currently focused upon organizing its resources and services to meet the ever-changing academic needs of today's cadets in this digital age. Over the next couple of months, John will be evaluating our current offering of electronic resources and services, as well as exploring new services to enhance the library's presence. For example, take a look at these new features:

  • Find print & e-journals: Use either Serials Solution or Ebsco's A-to-Z Journal Title List (both are in a trial period - let us know if you have a preference)
  • Look for this directCheck 360 Link for Full Textto articles or ILL- from within your database search results
Please feel free to contact John at anytime with question or suggestions regarding the library's digital resources and servcies. John can be reached at 508-830-6478 or jfurfey@maritime.edu
